Updates on Terrapins in the Baseball Draft

June 26th, 2009 by Bruce · 1 Comment

A.J. Casario signed with the White Sox on June 23rd, and is on the Bristol White Sox, one of the two rookie league affiliates Chicago has.  He signed after being drafted in the 38th round by the White Sox, three years after being drafted in the 27th round by the Dodgers.  So Casario will not be returning to Maryland for his senior season.

Swinson has yet to be signed, and he has been playing with the Youse’s Orioles again this year, the wooden bat collegiate team GMed by Dean Albany, so I’m not sure if he will sign or not with the Orioles.

But how about Vasquez coming back?  I love it, and now that we are not going after Lance , I believe the Terps should be fine in getting to the NCAA.  Who knows, maybe with a little bit of luck with a lot of ACC teams losing some key players, maybe top-3 in the conference could happen.
