Harvard Coach John Tillman in the Running For Maryland Lax Coach

Another name has surfaced in the hunt for a new lacrosse coach at Maryland. According to John Jiloty at Inside lacrosse, John Tillman former assistant to Richie Meade at Navy and current coach at Harvard is now in the mix.  Long considerd a strong offensive mind, Tillman would be a great fit at Maryland.  Here are some bullet points on the coaching career of John Tillman.

  • Led Harvard to a national ranking in first season
  • Guided the Crimson in the first-ever lacrosse game played at Gillette Stadium (April 5, 2008)
  • Coached the most All-Ivy League selections for Harvard (five in 2009) since 1999
  • Harvard won eight games in 2009, the most for the program since 2002
  • NCAA tournament participant with Navy: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007
  • Navy was one of just five programs to appear in each of the last four NCAA tournaments
  • NCAA finalist with Navy in 2004, defeating Penn, Cornell and Princeton along the way.
  • Navy’s first title game appearance since 1975
  • NCAA quarterfinalist with Navy in 2004
