It was a great night to be a Terp. For #21 it clearly was the most important night of his life. Last year when Greivis was unsure about staying in the NBA draft, he met with his high school coach (Stu Vetter) and his best friend in the world, gary Williams. The 3 of them decided it was best for Greivis to come back to Maryland , elevate his game and hopefully be a first round pick. In 2009 there was no way he would have been selected in the first round. The rest is history!!! Greivis played his heart out for the Terps, won ACC Player of the Year, was instrumental in his Coach being ACC Coach of the Year, and thrilled thousands of Maryland fans with his gutsy tremendous play. The culmination of the year was last night when the Memphis Grizzlies selected Greivis with the 28th pick in the first round thus getting Vasquez a 2 year guaranteed contract at approximately $850,000 per year. I heard Memphis Coach Lionel Hollins after the selection informing ESPN that Greivis could turn out to be an integral part of the team next year. Guaranteed contract, right situation, and the right guy to make it work!!! VIVA VASQUEZ!!!! Good luck in the NBA and thanks for all the memories!!! No one deserved these accolades more then you!!!!!!
