Sophomore Scott Swinson tossed the 6th no hitter in Maryland baseball history as the Terrapin nine gained its 30th win of the season, for only the 2nd time in school history. Luke Scott slammed a 3 run dinger off Josh Beckett as the O”s came from behind to defeat the Red Sox 5-4 before 38,000 at Camden Yards. Temple No Match for Lady Terps—Men to Face UVA Saturday 12PM at Navy

The Lady Terps disposed of Temple 20-7 on Sunday and will face the Blue Devils Saturday at 1PM at College Park, with the winner advancing to the Final Four. Duke defeated the Terps in Durham earlier in the year. UVA outlasted UMBC 10-9 to set up the Quarterfinal at Navy against the Terps.

At College park yeaterday, Virginia Tech shut out NC State to win the ACC Softball Championship.

In some other sporting news. Pimlico awaits the arrival of Big Brown for the Preakness. Phoenix will rue the day they let Mike D’Antoni leave and become the Knicks head coach. The lack of hitting of the Orioles is ruining some of the best pitching we have seen in the last decade. Look for the Cavs to even up its series with the Celtics tonight. Sergio is back–winning the Players Championship.

Down 5-2 midway through the second period, Coach Cottle called on2 of his Seniors Max Ritz and Joe Cinofsky to step up and guide the Terps to the Elite Eight.cottle-press-denver Grant Catalino scored 2 goals and 2 assists, along with scooping up 6 groundballs in his 1st NCAA tournament game.catalino Joe Cinofsky just totally dominated the defensive end, along with scoring a short handed goal.cinofsky-denver. Now the Terps await the winner of the UVA-UMBC game on Sunday.

The Lady lacrosse Terps are set for a hope game vs Temple Sunday Afternoon at 1PM.

Coach Dave Cottle has done about everything perfect at maryland except—winning the title. His teams continue to win and advance in the NCAA tournament. Academically, his teams perform incredibly. But he needs that title!!!! This year’s quest starts today. Look for pics and audio from Coach Cottle tomorrow on the website. Look for Ryan Young to have a big game today.

Was that Gilbert Arenas issuing an ultimatum? Sign jamison or I leave. Agent Zero–you have it half right –definitely sign Antawn but jettison the injury prone Arizona guard.

If you like lacrosse last night was a show you should have been listening to. Casey and Cortney Connor were in the studio along with Bruce Block and myself. Maryland coaches Dave Cottle and Cathy Reese called in to discuss the NCAA tournament. If you missed the show, look for the podcast on www.espn1300.com that should be up by Saturday. Some predictions from the panel —- Women’s Lacrosse—Courtney (UMBC Head Coach) Terps Penn Syracuse Northwestern in Final 4 Cuse over the Terps in the final—-Bruce Block Penn over Syracuse in the final—-Bruce P Maryland over Northwestern and return to the top perch in Women’s lacrosse.

Men’s side –everyone predicted the Devils will come out on top—-Bruce & Casey–See Maryland over UVA to reach the final 4 Bruce Block sees the opposite UVA over Maryland.

The Celtics have figured out how to stop LeBron. Let him shoot freely from the outside. After a 2-18 first game , LeBrom shot 6-24 missing shot after shot and seeing his team down 2-0 to the Celtics.

The anemic Oriole offense continues to ruin great pitching efforts as the O’s lose again to Oakland 4-2. LeBron was 2-18 from the field as the Celtics took away all the easy drives he had against the Wizards. However, it was Sam Cassell who led the Celts to victory.

Lady’s Lacrosse Earns #3 Seed In NCAAs–Host Temple on Sunday–Terrapin Club Meeting Report

The seeding Gods were kind to the Lady Terps last night, allowing them to open in the first round with Temple at College park at 1PM on Sunday. The winner of Duke Georgetown would be the Terps next opponent should they prevail over the Owls. Again the Men open on Saturday at 12PM against Denver.

Last night, I attended the Terrapin Club meeting at the Hilton in Columbia. Ralph, Gary, Brenda and Debbie Yow presented a state of the program report. Ralph spoke of the Senior experience on next year’s team, stating that Chris turner stii has a slight lead on the QB race. Gary was certainly excited about the propects of next years team and the incoming recruits. Brenda spoke of the previous year especially thanking her assistant Coach Darren park for his help during the past year. Debbie spoke of the coaching changes in swimming, volleyball and wrestling.
