After a weak back nine on Saturday, Fred Funk tormed out of the gate to finish 1 shot behind the eventual winner. A 15 ft putt on 18 was barely missed by the ex Maryland Golf Coach. The greens at BCC gave the pros fits and thus all of the players in contention struggled down the stretch.

Prediction:Ravens 17 Colts 10 Big Test For Gaither
October 12th, 2008 · No Comments
Though I have been predicting Ravens losses this year, tomorrow is the time for the upset. Why? Bob Saunders is out for the Colts. Saunders is to the Colts as #52 is to the Ravens. The Ravens will run the eball down Indy’s throat. The key match up of he day is Maryland’s Jared Gaither vs perennial all pro def end Dwight Freeney. J O always had trouble with Freeney and I believe this will continue. Kickoff is 1PM.
Terrapin Field Hockey was upset by Duke at the complex on Saturday 3-2. After making an incredible par saving chip on the 8th hole, Fred Funk faltered in the back nine and trails Nick Price by 4 after 3 rounds of the Constellation Energy Major at BCC.

Fred Funk 1 Off Lead at Constellation Energy Tourney at BCC
October 11th, 2008 · No Comments
Former University of Maryland Coach Fred Funk, is challenging for his second Senior Major of the year. ”I’ll be very disappointed if I finish anywhere but first here, to tell you the truth,” Funk said after shooting a 2-under-par 68 in the second round of the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship. Funk trails two-time Masters winner Ben Crenshaw (7-under) by one shot, and the two men should provide an interesting contrast over the final two rounds as they battle for the final major on the Champions Tour this season.
I will be out at BCC following Fred tomorrrow and hopefully on Sunday if he remains near the lead.

MacMath Earns Shutout in First ACC Soccer Start 4-0 over Hokies
October 11th, 2008 · No Comments
Men’s Soccer thoroughly dominated Virginia Tech 4-0, as Freshman MacMath drew the starting assignment. The #10 Terps are now 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the ACC.
The #1 Field Hockey Lady Terps host the #9 Duke Blue Devils today at 1PM. Maryland (10-1, 3-0) vaulted to the top of the polls September 30 after defeating then-No. 1 Wake Forest, 4-2 in Winston-Salem, N.C., then returning home to defeat Richmond, 7-0. They maintained their position with a hard-fought 4-3 overtime victory at Virginia last Saturday. Up first for the Terrapins this weekend will be a Duke team which is making its first road trip since falling, 4-1, at then-No. 2 Wake Forest on Sept. 13. Relying on a defense which allows the eighth fewest goals per game in the nation (1.09), the Blue Devils (8-3, 1-2) score just 2.18 goals per game, 36th overall. They are coming off back-to-back shutout victories last weekend, knocking off Boston College 5-0 and Boston University 2-0.

Midnight Madness Set for Friday October 17–Terps Await Wake for Redemption
October 8th, 2008 · No Comments
The best time of the year is right around the corner. Midnight Madness triggers the part of the year when football and basketball are in full force. The Wake game game is set for high noon at Byrd and certainly the Terps have a lot to prove to their fans and the ACC in general. The sting and bad taste from the Virginia loss remains and unfortunately it preceeded a bye week. The Wake game will turn the season. A loss and it could turn into a 6-6 and minor bowl year. A win will put the terps right back in the ACC hunt. Clemson plays at Wake tomorrow night and let’s hope the Tigers can rebound, which would set up the Terps for a 2-0 record in the threesome matchup. How can I be optimistic after the UVA debacle. REMEMBER CAL!!!!!

UVA 31 Terps 0 —Still Can’t Believe It!!!!!
October 6th, 2008 · No Comments
This is one time the Baltimore Blackout was great. Saturday’s night makes no sense whatsoever. It would have been one thing to have been upset by the Cavaliers, 14 point road favorites lose with regularity these days butno after the MTS game. Some of my observations that I will go into much more depth on Tuesday night.
The lack of a pass rush continues to rear its ugly head each week as another 3rd string QB was turned into a wily verteran.
Was it me or did it seem like Chris Turner was throwing into s cluster of Cavaliers every time he thrw the ball.
The only highlight was an incredible hook and ladder play that ended the 1st half.
Would anyone be shocked if we came out against Wake and dominate? Remember the Terps outright blew the game last year, coughing up a 24-3 lead with 1 minute left in the 3rd period.
Torrie Smith continues to improve on kick retuns.
The Portis package concept isn’t working.
Get Darius the ball even if that means putting him in the backfield.
Never saw a team cry about every call, likr UVA
Think about how you would shake up the lineup.

Terps in Virginia to Face Cavaliers—Must Take Care of Business
October 4th, 2008 · No Comments
This game vs UVA bothers me more then Wake on October 18th. The Terrapins always seem to come up with weak efforts against teams they over match. Last week, UVA lost to Duke 31-3–that’s right Duke. Maryland should steamroll over this team but Virginia has been destroyed this week across the country. The assumption is that the Cavs will be playing for their life, a situation I hate to face. That being said Chris Turner will pretend like the Terps are playing USC —Terps 24 UVA 17 and the Terps will go into break week 5-1 and probably ranked.
