A quick look at Haukur Palsson

24 hours after THE GAME:

Down the wire this was a true team effort. The guy who really stood out was Jordan Williams. It’s unusual for a Freshman to do everything right at crunch time but he did. A put back lay up, tough defense, a blocked shot and making free throws. Every game, Jordan gets better. His future is unlimited.

Eric Hayes was his usual stoic self after the game. He is unflappable and this certainly yields dividends in his play.

Sitiing as low as I do , I missed many of Greivis’ interaction with the crowd. #21 really helped the crowd get fired up. Jeff Barker told me on Terp talk Thursday night how post game interviews will never be the sam at Comcast without the Senor.

The final 2 minutes of the game were very unusual in that both teams were down to 1 timeout and the game literally just played on without the usual endless fouling. There has been some conjecture that a rested Greivis and Eric outplayed Scheyer and Singler down the stretch because the 2 Dookies had played virtually the entire game.

Kyle Singler had to have Sean Mosley in his nightmares , as Mr Baltimore completely threw Singler off his game.

In the final 2 minutes, I closely watched the Terps continue to run throught the set plays again and again, gary has to love the way this team plays as a unit.

Is every Terrapin fan worried about a letdown against UVA like I am? How great will it be if the Terps defeat the Wahoos and then we can all sit back and become Tar Heel fans at 9PM.

I watched most of the ESPN coverage and liked everyone told me it was excellent–fair and balanced probably because Dookie V was absent.

The Lady Terps dropped to 18-9 overall and 5-7 in the ACC after a tough loss at Cameron Indoor today. Lori Bjork led the way for the Terps with 14 points including 4 threes. The Terps actually led 46-43 in the 2nd half and were only down by a point with 5 minutes left before a cold shooting spell developed. The Lady Terps have 2 conference games left at Chesnut Hill Thursday night against BC and Senior day at Comacast next Sunday at 3 vs FSU. Lori Bjork and Emery Wallace will be honored.

Following a disappointing loss to Navy less than 24 hours ago, the seventh-ranked University of Maryland wrestling team wasted little time in showing its mettle against conference foes North Carolina State and Duke. In front of 814 fans at Comcast Pavilion, the Terrapins downed the Wolfpack 30-10 and handed Duke a 32-9 defeat to improve to 3-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference action.  The Terps (15-4), whose last home loss was on Jan. 11, 2009, won seven out of 10 matches against both NC State (5-8) and Duke (2-4) to extend their winning streak at Comcast Pavilion to eight matches. Maryland was led by six wrestlers – Mookie Golden, Kyle John, No. 15 Josh Asper, Corey Peltier, No. 3 Hudson Taylor and Patrick Gilmore – who all went 2-0 on the day. (from umterps.com)

I have said it all year—there is no true leader in the ACC. The Terrapins have a TREMENDOUS opportunity to jump out and take hold of the upper ACC echelon. Duke was Destroyed tonight by NC State and Carolina lost its 3rd in a row- this time to Wake by 13 points in the Dean Dome. NC State comes in on Saturday and then Miami ( who lost at home to Boston College) next Tuesday. Let’s take it 1 shot at a time.

I have now watched Carolina, Duke, Wake, BC, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Clemson and I can conclude that I don’t see any team the Terps can’t defeat, especially if their intensity remains the level it has been at for the first 3 games of the ACC season.
