The former CSKA Moscow player signed for the next four seasons this afternoon and says that Barça is his big chance “to win a major title”. So far the American has been playing in minor leagues such as those in Russia and Israel though he combined that with Euroleague action. Now with Barça and in the ACB, he hopes to be able to show off his talent once more. This article comes from mdturtleblogspot.com

Ricky Rubio is 18 years old, always lived at home, and certainly starred in whatever Euro League he was in. But, how will he do in the NBA—18 YEARS OLD!!! Jim Boeheim wasn’t impressed. His passes and ball handling remind you of the Legendary Pistol Pete. Remember Pistol might have been a great showman but many rings did he have? Many Euros have dominated overseas but in the NBA they become journeymen. Meanwhile American players who have proven their worth are sometimes regarded less likely to succeed. DuJuan Blair a 2nd round pick–many teams will rue the day they passed over this block of granite. Of course there is one South American who will be a deserving first round pick next year—Greivis!!!!!!

The Wizards have a 17% chance of striking paydirt and landing Blake Griffin, maybe the best all around big man to come out of college in a decade!!! This kid can do it all, his game is fluid, he can play with his back to the hoop, run the fast break, handle the ball, post up and shoot, play great defense. I saw him in Kansas City and had a chance to talk with him and was absolutely blown away. Now let’s look at the Wizards with Blake Griffin.

Center- Blake Griffin

Power Forward –Brendan Heywood

Small Forward –Antoine

2 Guard —-Caron

Point—Agent Zero

Bench–Young, Stevenson, McGee, Blatche

This lineup challenges for the title immediately. Now for the surprise, I do believe if the Bullets get the 2nd pick, it would be Ricky Rubio, the Pistol Pete clone from Italy, not Ty Lawson. This lottery could turn out to be the biggest moment in franchise history!!!!

It’s hard to believe the effect Ron Artest has had on Kobe. #24 seems to be out of sorts being frustrated by the constant defense being inflicted on him by Battier and Artest. The Lakers will win game 7 but appear to be vulnerable to Denver and thouroughly outmatched by LeBron and the Cavaliers. Let’s see what Jackson can do to coach these guys back to dominance.

I had an interesting conversation with a member of the Wizards front office yesterday. I would have thought that Ty Lawson might have been considered a potential 1st round pick should he Wizards lose the Blake Griffin lottery. But it appears that Italy’s version of Pistol Pete, Ricky Rubio has been climbing up the NBA’s GMs charts.

For weeks I have been hearing about the future Pistol Pete, Ricky Rubio 17 year old Spanish guard. We shall see him this morning. If you are playing golf, TIVO this game. This one I believe will be a stern test for the USA because Spain has the guard play that might just frustrate Kobe and the guys. Jose Calderon has had his way in the NBA and will freelance today. Jason Kidd or Chris Paul must score from the top of the key to open things up inside. Pao Gasol will be out to prove a point after his horrendous performance in the NBA finals. Without Kobe the USA would be in trouble today, with him USA 96 Spain 91.

Supposedly today is the day that Ralph will decide who the starting QB will be. Unless Chris Turner totally screws up in the scrimmage today, he will be named the opening day QB. I found it both interesting and refreshing the way Byron Mouton and Derrick Lewis said they would never don another country’s uniform in the Olympics. Controversy will reign supreme should either Becky Hammond (Russia) or Chris Kaman (Germany) lead their team to victory vs the USA. EJ and Erin Henderson lead the Vikings into town tonight vs the Ravens, as Troy Smith gets the nod at QB.
