Tonight, Rodney Wallace (D.C. United) and Jeremy Hall (NY Red Bulls) will be back on the field together in D.C., as the New York Red Bulls take on D.C. United at RFK Stadium. This is the second meeting between the two teams this season, with United winning the first game, three to two. These two players were core pieces of the Terps’ national championship team last year, and both have adapted well into their roles on their respective teams.

Wallace has taken his speed and explosivness that he showed in his two years at Maryland and has transitioned into an attacking defender/midfielder for D.C. He has started 11 games this season, and has two goals and two assists.

Hall, also a defender, has been able to get some playing time as a rookie on New York. While he hasn’t scored or assisted on any goals, he’s started 6 games this season and has gotten in as a sub in two more games.

D.C. United is favored to win tonight’s game, as New York has yet to win, let alone score, on the road this season. Tonight’s game can be seen on ESPN 2 at 7:30.

Though dominating the game, the Maryland Soccer Terrapins needed a score from sophomore Sean Flatley with 40 seconds remaining to send the game into OT. The Terps would capture the game when Wallace took a Yates assist right down the pipe on a breakaway goal in the 97th minute. ”I’m so proud of the effort tonight that I am almost speechless,” head coach Sasho Cirovski said. “It was a championship total team effort. Our team showed that it has the pieces to have a very successful season.” Maryland outshot UCLA, 11-4, including eight shots in the second half. The Terps stay on the West Coast for a matchup against California-Berkley on Sunday. Game time is slated for noon (ET) in Los Angeles. As we stated 2 weeks ago on Terp Talk, Maryland should make a run at the National Championship this year. The game was on national TV on Comcast #267–look for a replay in the next few days.
