I really don’t have a good answer as to why Marah Strickland left the Terps. She had averaged 28 minutes per game, free wheeled and took many 3 point shots and was poised probably to be the offensive focus player this season. She seemed to be a happy member of the team. Still scratching my head over this one. Good Luck Marah.
I think Marah realized she would have to battle Dara Taylor and others for playing time. Frese knows Strickland isnt the answer here and needs recruits that can step up and be the go getters she isn’t.
It just surprises me that Strickland left so suddenly. If we assume Taylor starts at point, don’t you think Marah would have still started at the 2 or 3. Barrett and Rodgers had their moments but were too inconcistent generally. I am sur Brenda will solve this riddle.
i think Marah realized her game is limited to launching 3’s and playinhg pretty good defense, which is okay by me. however the other pieces to her game need work. for example she cannot create off the dribble and often times the offense bogs down if she is not in a catch and shoot situation. if she remained in the program those deficiencies would be magnified with the departure of toliver and coleman. as a junior with much experience, she would have had a lot of responsibility to lead by example; not sure she was ready for that under the coaching style of frese. i think frese is overrated, with park as the most effective coach on the staff.
