The Orioles today announced that they have come to terms with RHP Matt Hobgood, their first-round pick (5th overall selection) in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Hobgood earned national accolades for his performance at Norco (CA) High School. He was named the 2008-09 Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year and earlier this week was named to USA Today’s All-USA Baseball team. The 6-for-4, 245-pound right-hander went 9-0 with a 0.38 ERA in his senior season. He pitched 55.0 innings in 2009, allowing 18 hits, walking 19 and striking out 84. (From Orioles.com)
Meanwhile back at the Yard, the Orioles lost to the Nationals 5-3. Matt Weiters went 0-3 with another throwing error.Remember what I said when Matt was brought up–Be parient. No one comes into Major Leagye baseball and takes over.
