The Washington Post reports that Minnesota Viking safety Madieu Williams has made this tremendous donation to the University.
“At 28, Williams finds himself in a relatively prosperous position: He plays free safety for the Minnesota Vikings. And Wednesday, he made a difference. In a morning news conference, the University of Maryland announced the creation of the Madieu Williams Center for Global Health Initiatives. The former U-Md. star is providing a $2 million endowment. It is the largest gift to the flagship school from an African American alumnus and the largest sum donated by someone so young.” (excerpt from the Washington Post).

This is a nice contribution to the school from a young alumnae. What does mentioning his ethic heritage add to the story?

I agree but I didn’t write it—-it was an excerpt from a Washington Post article. You would have to ask the writer of the article. What a great gesture by Madieu!! He was a great player at Maryland and continues his great play for the Vikings.
