Yesterday before the watching the Terrapin UNC Lacrosse game, I went over to the Owings Mills Complex of Stevenson and watched the #2 D3 school in the land destroy #7 Roanoke 18-8. The starting attack of Jimmy Dailey, Richie Ford and Steve Kazimir is certainly equal to or better then many DI attacks. What a great place to watch a game in the heart of suburbia. Take advantage of the games and get out to former Ravens complex.
Now what does the Final Four participant have in common with the Mustangs? It too is a suburban college. Last January when I wen to Indy and watched the Ravens go down to the Colts, I had some free time in the afternoon before watching the Terp BC game. My son told me I had to see Hinkle Fieldhouse and sure enough Butler was playing that day. The Fieldhouse is in the heart of a gorgeous suburban area of Indianapolis. When I entered the arena with my $10 ticket, I say next to a few old guys who told to watch this kid Gordon Heyward, that they thought he was one of the best forwards in the country. I watched him and I was overwhelmed–this kid had tremendous court sense yet has flown under the radar until now. That goes for the starting PG Shelvin Mack as well. But the ESPN powers convince you that if it isn’t Kentucky or the Big East it’s only a pretender. Butlet is a great story. Stay tuned.
