Justice has finally been served. One of the greatest and most prolific members of the Bullets franchise has finally been placed where he belongs–in the Hall of Fame!!! Gus is pictured above with Knick great and all-time Johnson enemy Dave Debusschere. I could probably do a 1000 word essay on what Honeycomb meant to me but in simplest terms, he was the best 6’5 power forward to have ever been in the NBA. 6’5″ that’s right. Gus became a Baltimore icon, idolized all over the city. His wars with the Knicks were legendary. Gus was the first athlete I ever saw fly to get a rebound with 1 hand and jam the ball before he came down. Honeycomb backed away from no one including the Big Dipper, Wilt Chamberlain. I will try to get some video on Gus and you will see why his not being included in the Hall of Fame 20 years ago was a great injustice. Thousands of Bullet fans will sleep better tonight knowing that finally the soul of #25 can rest in peace.
