With Maryland’s bullpen depleted after pitching 7 1/3 innings in Saturday’s doubleheader, starter Brett Harman knew he had to give the Terps seven to eight solid innings in order for them to win Sunday. The junior exceeded those expectations, recording Maryland’s first complete game this season and setting a career high with 12 strikeouts as Maryland topped Boston College, 4-2. Harman broke his previous career high of 10 strikeouts and threw his first complete game since May 8, 2009 against Wake Forest. Maryland broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning after Alfredo Rodriguez led off with a double down the left field line. Brandon Padula’s single to left field plated Rodriguez, giving the Terps a 2-1 lead. Matt Marquis and Jack Cleary kept the rally alive with a pair of singles, with Cleary’s knocking in Padula for a 3-1 Maryland advantage.
