Maryland women’s soccer’s record-setting season came to an end on penalty kicks vs. Georgetown in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday at Ludwig Field. The Hoyas stopped the first two Terrapin penalty kicks in the shootout and eliminated the Terps, 3-2. The two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 through 110 minutes making the official result a tie. Maryland finishes its season with an 18-2-3 record. Georgetown now stands at 14-6-2 on the year. “I’m proud of our effort and fight today, especially considering the flu bug that hit our team last night,” said Maryland head coach Brian Pensky. “Unfortunately we weren’t ourselves today, but, as always, our effort and determination can not be questioned.
All in all a tremendous season for Coach Pensky and the Lady’s Soccer team.
