Saturday afternoon I had the privilege of watching about a half hour of warmups at the Maryland Temple game with the most knowledgeable football expert I know –Bruce Laird. The subject of Torrey Smith cane up. I said to Bruce, I don’t understand why Torrey has not been utilized at all. I don’t know anything about pass routes but I do know that Torrey was an extremely consistent deep reciver for the Terps. Many of the passes he caught were balls that were thrown up for grab between him and 1 defender. Bruce Laird responded that in the NFL one on one is like being open if the QB can put the ball on the money.
First TD –Torrey had about a half step and Joe put in on the money–
Second TD–Torrey just blew past the opposition and made a sure handed catch
Third TD–Fade route —one on one–Torrey’s Ball
A star had been born. Yea next week he might land on Revis island but remember there is only 1 Darrelle Revis.
What a difference a week makes. One thing for sure the Patriots sure looked beatable yesterday. 4 ints for Brady.
The Red Zone was super with 8 games down the wire with a one score differential.

torrey had a great quarter. hopefully he’ll become a star or at least a very serviceable player. but to say he’s a star now is as absurd as talking about danny o’brien as a heisman candidate this year. i guess those who saw john unitas’ first pass would have said this guy stinks. ya see unitas’ first pass was intercepted by the bears jc caroline and returned for a touchdown.
