UVA 31 Terrapins 13—What Can I Say?–Enter The No Spin Zone

Danny gets the start today as I clearly expected and stated so on Terp Talk.  The Terps are down 7-0 immediately, Danny on his 2nd play from scrimmage throws a bomb on the money to an all alone Quintin McCree and he loses the ball in the sun. The uphill battle begins as it has all season.

I thought Edsall utilized the 2 QBs in a logical, somewhat productive sequence. However, Cj’s passing skills are not up to Danny’s. There were so many drops again that it is hard to understand.

UVA was much the better team today but I think back to the high last year at Charlottesville when Danny was really on the money and the Terps easily beat the Hoos.

Danny had so many sharp passes but then the int reared its head.

It was a glorious day today and I guess the crowd was about 36,000.

Where do we go from here? What can we learn these last 3 weeks?

I need a day to think about some answers.

Here are some quotes from Edsall Post Game:

On switching quarterbacks:
“I don’t thing switching quarterbacks adversely affected us. It was our plan to put in C.J. (Brown) in the second quarter. I think that Danny (O’Brien) moved the team down the field and then we stalled and had to kick a field goal. When we made the move to put C.J. in we went down and scored a touchdown. We had some things that happened, and as the game went along we decided to play the guys that we played.”

On the dropped passes:
“I haven’t had a chance to watch the film yet, but I think we had a couple that our guys took their eyes off the ball. It is one of those things where you have to have you eye on it until you tuck it. Maybe some of the throws weren’t exactly where the ball was supposed to be, but anything in the framework of your body we expect them to catch it. We do ball drills during practice. We work on looking the ball in and going back to the ball. We work on everything you need to do to catch the ball.”

On the focus the rest of the season:
“We aren’t going to slog through anything. We are going to go out there, play hard and work to get better. We are going to be even more determined to get better. One of our goals is gone from this year (making a bowl game). But, it is all up to us to go out there and work to get better. That is exactly what we are going to do. It is disappointing but we have to go and get better.”

the 2 qb system doesn’t work. why down by 18 in the 4th quarter is brown the running qb in the game? ya think md would be trying to score quickly rather than run the clock out. that’s poor coaching. that’s just stupid. not since the days of roy lester and bob ward……
