What a 2nd round pick!!!!! Playing without 52 today, the Ravens held on for a 7 point win. Some comments:
Torrey does so much more then what shows on the stats sheet. he was in motion when Ray busted out for his big run. He was deep as a decoy when Anquan had his TD. Now Joe and Torrey seem to be more in sync. If this team could just play better on the road.
With the win the Ravens are 7-3 in first place. This was a must win with a road game in Cincinnati remaining.
We were very lucky on Jimmy Smith’s fumble.
Torrey must do something with his hair if hair pulling is allowed. Funny you can’t pull hair in the WWE but you can in the NFL. Maybe Earl Hebner should be an official. Vince McMahon would never put up with it.
Flacco is such a wiser and better QB at home.
He QB pressure from the Ravens was weak until the game was on the line.
Do you think we might have 1 big return this year?
Jack Harbaugh was at the game today awaiting the monster showdown between the James errrrr Harbaugh brothers on Thursday night.
I thought the play calling nursing the lead was a tad too conservative but what the heck we won.
Someone explain to me the purpose of the Vonta Leach out pass.
Ryan
AJ Green has 16 catches of 20+ yards already. Cam Newton will get a ton of credit for his first 6 games, despite being pretty bad in his last 4. Dalton will get credit, which he does deserve, although HE has AJ Green and they haven’t played the schedule until the last 2 weeks, and in that time he has what, 6 picks and 5 fumbles?
My point is, for all the reason I said we needed to cut Joe some slack for this year, the same can be said of Torrey. No OTA’s for the 2 to get reps. No real preseason. Then, with the early injuries to Grubbs, and Evan’s, Smith was thrusted into it.
Now, Against Pitt, Torrey had some big drops, he had the drop that was picked against Zona.
However, he and Joe teamed up to beat the Rams. He caught the most important pass, on try 2 against the Steelers, and he was unstopable today.
The timing it takes to connect consistently on deep balls in the NFL, takes at LEAST 10 games to develop. Looking at Harrison and Manning, Palmer and Johnson, and on and on and on to GB with Jennings and AROD, some took more.
But, now that Grubbs is back, and Joe gets time to throw, Cam calls runs seeing that it opens up Play Action, and Joe finally getting a feel for Torrey’s speed (which NFL redzone was saying might be the fastest in the NFL), with Boldins Strength, Rice’s pinballocity as I put it, Evan’s getting back into it…..
I honestly think that Torrey has the edge now in getting into the ROY voting.
He can blow by most defenses. If he can take that next step to consistency, which he will at some point anyway, but if he does it now, he is looking at a 1000 yards, and 10+ TD rookie season.
That is top 15 WR fantasy numbers for anyone, let alone a rookie, on a patch work line built team.
Torrey won’t be long until he holds all of the passing records. When was the last time a rookie WR for this team had 60+ receptions, and even 5 Td?
Torrey has 5 already. Actually, he might have 6, with 6 games to go. That Indy game is gonna be a fantasy stat field day. I’m predicting 2 150 yard games still to come.
I don’t want to give credit to Cam, because that is what he is SUPPOSED to do.
Look at this string of 110+ rating games for A Rod. He hasn’t attempted 40 passes 1 time.
Joe should not have to be over 35. With Torrey, lol, 5 of those 35 will be good for 100 + yards and a TD. lol.
Keep it up Rook. Once he learns how to run crossing routes, as well as utilize his speed to blow past DB’s, and like on that split inside slant, that was like RANDY MOSS blowing up the middle, and if he wakes up and CUTS HIS HAIR (why give the defense anything extra?), he would have had another TD and a 7 yard slant, for about 70 yards more.
Again. Keep it up Rook!
