Second-ranked junior Josh Asper faced third-ranked Shane Onufer of Wyoming for the second consecutive year in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic on Monday night at Arizona State University, and for the second consecutive year, Asper earned a victory. Asper and sophomore Spencer Myersparticipated in the annual event that features some of the top collegiate wrestlers in the country.
At 165 pounds, Asper earned a 3-2 decision over Onufer at the 2010 NWCA All-Star Classic and picked up right where he left off last year. The Parkton, Md., native scored an early takedown in the first period and led 2-1.
Asper took control of the match in the second period with an escape and a takedown at the edge of the mat to go up 5-1, but had to hold off a late surge by Onufer to win a 6-4 decision. from umterps.com
