Randy Edsall Post Game
“This was really tough. We needed to make the plays that we didn’t make. I don’t know what it was. We made the plays in the first 35 minutes and couldn’t make the plays late in the game. We couldn’t stop them on third or fourth downs.” “I’m disappointed for our seniors that we didn’t send them out with a win. We’ve got to go back and see how to get better.” “Kids were out there playing hard. We couldn’t make the plays when we needed to. We need to continue to play with confidence like we did in the first half.”
Some comments as I am happy this season is finally over:
On the bright side, recovery can be much quicker then you think. Why? Because the ACC is so weak it’s ridiculous. We were 41-14 over a team that demolished Clemson last week. Oh yea, we will killing Clemson as well. Vandy (James Franklin) embarrassed Wake. South Carolina humiliated Clemson. FSU beat Florida but had more penalty yards then yards gained. Georgia rolled over Tech. Virginia pulled a colossal choke losing at home 38-0 to the HoKies with an ACC Championship game on the line. How nauseating will it be to watch the Hokies and Frank Beamer win the ACC again and go to the Orange Bowl?
A 3 man rush with 4th and 12 and up 41-14? Why? Why no blitzes when we were getting steamrolled? Why did CJ not run with the ball in the 2 series following the 41-21 deficit.
How open were Wolfpack receivers up the middle? TE #84 played his way into the NFL today.
Randy has a lot of thinking to do about some of his Coaching staff. Any moves need to be made quickly to give him proper time for a search. I will not speculate on changes.
Remember if we won this game we would have ended the season 3-9 not bowl eligible. Perhaps a win would have given us false hope.
Hartsfield had 18 tackles today. Joe Vellano was incredible and will get my vote for 1st all ACC.
My take on the rumored mass transfers. I don’t buy it. Not many of the rumored exiters are in tremendous demand. When you think it over why leave and have to sit out a year and then fight for playing time.
CJ had his moments for sure today, but when the going got tough would you have preferred Danny in there. I sure hope rumors of Danny’s exodus are just that. He is only a sophomore and has 2 more years to possibly flourish at Maryland.
There is no sugar coating the game today – this was a horrendous loss. But it’s better to have happened now then when it really matters.Coach Edsall needs to catch his breathe and then get out the recruiting trail where is so comfortable. As I said to the guy who tortured me during lunch today–Talk to me in 2 years about the program. A new coach must be given a proper chance.

one of the worst if not the worst year in maryland football history. yesterday was one of the few games that md came to play in the first half. sadly they couldn’t sustain their effort in the second half. lot’s of injuries this year? yes. lack of depth this year? yes. poor coaching this year? absolutely. lot’s of transfers coming up? i think so. does the coach deserve a chance? absolutely. does the coach need to make some changes in the way he does things? i say yes but i think that it will be highly unlikely. should most of the assistants to fired? no question particularly offensive and defensive co-ordinators and special teams. is he the right coach for maryland? my gut says no but i hope he shows that i am wrong. i don’t see things getting any better for football next year. i see the play being below average….crowds off and the constant criticism of edsall continuing until he can turn this program into winner. he nor his coaches earned their pay this year and a lot of the players didn’t deserve scholarships this year.
