2014 National Champion Terrapins

Just a few random thoughts after a much needed National Championship win for Maryland:

Cathy Reese just gets it–the talent on this team is so spread out and Maryland just beats you at every angle

I do believe that the quick 5-0 took Cuse Coach Gary Gait out of his slow down game plan

Taylor Cummings was certainly the most dominant player on the field by far in every facet of the game. Marc Appel told me a few years ago that Taylor has more drive and ability then any women player he has ever seen. In Taylor’s 4 high school years and 2 seasons at Maryland she has lost a grand total of 2 games. Taylor was clearly the MOP and this game should clinch the Tewaaraton Award for her. But that’s only  my opinion.

Senior Captain Beth Glaros scored 5 goals and had 1 assist in her last game as a Terp. Her post game comments included that “this was the happiest day of my life.

Brooke Griffin and Kristen Lamon each added 3 goals.

Maryland was up 15-8 and continued to put the medal to the medal with 7 minutes left, but a Syracuse save in the nets, a few draw controls later it was 15-12. Syracuse committed a turnover and the rest was history. Audio and video will be posted in the next few days.

Phenomenal season for MD women’s lacrosse. Truly a team.
P.S. Bruce – Thanks for the heads up about the Tewaaraton Ceremony. I just sent in my application.
