My Take on the Terrapins Loss at the Super Regional

What was it?

Home field advantage for the Hoos–maybe

Better starting pitching from UVA—no way

Lack of small ball execution from Maryland–no way

Fielding, power shortage, timely hitting, the intangibles—-no way

WALKS, Walks, and more walks—yes

I have heard many a great manager including Mr Showalter say after his closer lost a big game, if the situation is there tomorrow he will be back. It was, he was back and we lost.

42 wins is pretty good. Just like Men’s lacrosse, keep knocking at the door–Terrapin nation can live with tough defeats. W will be back –that’s for sure.

defense could be better and they could use more hitting.

    walks kill.

big question is what will happen to kevin mooney? finishing his jr yr. unlikey to be drafted….if so very late. i don’ think he has mlb stuff or that kind of potential. but he is a really good college pitcher. if he returns to md. could he still close? many players never recover from similar situations.

dig down deep, kevin. feel badly for a bit and let it go. get hungrier.
