Humiliating 68-63 Loss To An 0-13 Minnesota squad—Scaring Terrapin Nation

No spin tonight:

What has happened to Melo? 3-11 from the field –6 turnovers –an air ball and 2 turnovers down the stretch—Melo? really?

How can the Terps come out so flat again and again?

Minnesota didn’t even play well–shooting 33%–including 1-15 down the wire

The Terps will fall out of the top 10 and face at least 2 games on the road that seem unwinnable—Purdue and Indiana

A lot of work has to be put in the next 3 days before Sunday’s showdown against Michigan—losing 3 in a row in unthinkable

Yes Diamond Stone was missed but Dodd had 9 rebounds and played excellent defense–but offensively he can be invisible

I can’t remember a worse conference loss for the Terps—#6 in the country losing to a 0-13 squad that played poorly

Sunday will be Judgment Day for Maryland

Can’t seem to figure out the problem?
It is no further then Coach Turgeon.
Terps have the best starting team in country. Yet they are consistently outplayed or at least held competitive by severely less talented teams.
They look totally uncoached and confused.
They are athletic, but their schemes offensively and defensively are slow and uninspired. Why walk the ball up court every possession ?
Why not get in the face defensively. Why send your big men outside the circle and create panic mode the rest of the defensive possession? Why not get tight on the 3point shooters?
    Zero inside defensive presence.
Offense breaks down as passing stops and one on one proliferates.
Pathetic performances along with disappearances on offense.
No development of players skills year to year, mostly regression.
    Zero contributions from the bench.
    Coach T take a bow!

    michael, i agree.

the coaching is sub par. turgeon should bring in a couple different assistants. get someone in here to coach the offense and the bigs because mark is clueless.

the lack of hustle, lack of basics like boxing out. lack of ball movement, poor development of the bench, the listless play for so much of games…all coaching or lack of it.

Why do people keep saying that Maryland has the most talented starting lineup? They have talent but it is flawed..Rasheed averaged 7 points a game at Duke..Robert Carter averaged 11 points at Georgia Tech and came to Maryland as an out of shape defensive liabilitry..hence not in any draft board lst or 2nd round.Diamond Stone, although certainly talented, played against kids half his size and is still learning the game.Maryland has no backcourt depth especially with the injury to Dion Wiley…of course that is Turgeons fault. Jared Nickens is getting the same shots he got last year and is missing…again Turgeons fault.Melo Trimble was one of the top point guards in the nation 2 weeks ago and now can’t make the shots he normally makes. ..again Turgeon’s fault.Every top 10,especially this year, has ups and downs..Michigan State losing to Nebraska at home…Kansas losing by 20 to Oklahoma State…Virginia losing 3 straight and making a desperation bank shot against Wake Forest to keep it from being 4.Give Maryland a chance to right the ship, like in 2001.Perhaps Tom Izzo should have resigned for losing to such a clueless coach twice last year..or Bo Ryan should have resigned last year after losing to the incompetent Turgeon.Does Turgeon have any redeeming qualities. …if not just say it…he should be fired.I’m very content with direction of the program considering he came in with nothing and made them a top 10 program in 4 years.Maryland is not a blueblood program and never was…right now we are moving in the right direction clueless coach and all
