the good…maryland won. the bench-dodd, brantley and nickens produced. layman had a very good game and his stock is rising due to hitting the outside shot. good game by stone.
the good-overall good shooting from the floor and exceptional from the foul line.
the good and bad. the good–carter with points and good play inside the free throw line. the bad–carter keeps jacking up 3’s and turns it over far to much for a forward. carter lacks good court sense
the good and bad–sulaimon. the bad- invisible in the first half. the good–solid floor game in the second half.
the ugly-despite 8 rebounds, melo shot poorly, only one assist and 7 turnovers.
the ugly-defense. couldn’t defend the 3 and you know michigan is going to shoot the 3….and no weak side help in the paint.
the ugly-only plus 3 rebounding against a smaller less talented team and michigan had 12 offensive rebounds to maryland’s 9.
overall, i don’t think you can get any confidence from this win. maryland played an undermanned, smaller less talented team playing without their best player and barely won at home. thank goodness for the 17-1 run in the first half.
you can only hope brantley and nickens gained some much needed confidence.
today you saw how good coaching and a well disciplined team can stay in game and give itself a chance to win despite having less talent, less size and without their best player.
wayne mentioned discipline….maryland had 11 assists 18 turnovers. michigan had 22 assists and 16 turnovers.
