Mark Dixon Assesses Terrapin Win over Princeton in insidelacrosse.com

What Happened: Maryland blitzed Princeton 17-5

Takeaway: Let’s face it: Maryland has become a team that everyone loves to hate. Primarily, lacrosse fans feel the Terps play too slow and conservative for the amount of talent they have on the offensive end. This wasn’t the case this past Saturday against Princeton. Just seven seconds into the game, face-off man Austin Henningsen got the party started with a quick goal. Fifty ticks later Matt Rambo (1, 1) tickled the twine. Maryland raced to leads of 6-1 and 11-2 after the first and second quarters en route to the impressive victory. Granted, Princeton has struggled mightily in 2016, but in a season ni which upsets are becoming as common as ridiculous Steph Curry 3-pointers, preparation and execution has never been so critical. I liked how Maryland tinkered with its lineup after tough losses to Yale and Notre Dame. Colin Heacock (3G) has moved to his natural position of attack and looks comfortable and dangerous. He has seven goals since the move in wins over Drexel and the Tigers. Prior to the switch he had established himself as the Terps’ most consistent offensive threat, and with him at attack it takes a lot of pressure to create off of Rambo. Two middies — Pat Young (2, 2) and Henry West (1, 1) — seemed to get on track in this game, giving their best efforts of the campaign to date. Maryland has the weapons to do damage. Whether or not they can remain consistent is the big question in College Park.

Now that Rambo has other scorers on his line, hopefully he can turn himself and not only score but also dish it off for a bunch of assists.
