Terps Take 5yh in a Row Rolling Over Penn 6-2

The Maryland men’s lacrosse team exploded for 10 first half goals and its defense clamped down in the second half as the Terps earned a decisive 13-8 victory at Franklin Field Tuesday evening.

The Philadelphia native Matt Rambo (3G, 1A) and teammate Colin Heacock (3G, 1A) led the way with four points each, while Bryan Cole (2G, 1A) and Dylan Maltz (2G, 1A) each added three points. Freshman Austin Henningsen dominated the faceoff X with a 15-for-20 day, while Kyle Bernlohr made a season-high 10 saves in net. Greg Danseglio posted three ground balls and caused two turnovers.

After giving up a pair of quick Quaker goals, Rambo put the Terps on the board with a strike of his own to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. Maryland (6-2) then scored three unanswered goals in a span of 1:38 to take a lead it would never relinquish. Pat Young and Maltz each had a goal in the run, in addition to a second goal from Rambo to put the Terps ahead, 4-2. Penn scored its third of the game, before Heacock and Connor Kelly teamed up for a pair of goals in the final two minutes of the frame.

Maryland will look to extend its five-game win streak Saturday when it travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., to take on Michigan in the “Big House” at 1 pm on Big Ten Network.
