– Aaron Franco scored a goal in the 85th and the defense played an integral role as the No. 4-ranked Maryland men’s soccer team topped Navy, 1-0, in the team’s second exhibition match Wednesday night.
Franco’s 25-yard blast to Navy keeper Mac Burke solidified a statistically-dominant Terrapin effort as Maryland outshot the Midshipmen, 16-3, for the match.
Cody Niedermeier and Dayne St. Clair split time at keeper, though the duo combined for only one save in the match due to an outstanding showing from the Maryland backline and midfield.
Maryland returns to action for its final exhibition of the season when it welcomes Xavier to Ludwig Field on Saturday at 7 p.m.
