Random Thoughts at 3 AM after returning from Foxboro and watching the replay:
It was a day for unsung heroes for the Terps as is often the case in Championship games. JON GARINO 10-4 in faceoffs against Jake Withers. Adam DeMilo 2 goals from his role on the 2nd midfield line. Dylan Maltz –and incredible game with 2 lefty sniper shots and 1 assist.
An utterly stupendous goal from hopefully the Tewaaraton winner, Matt Rambo
Many things worked in the Terps favor today. This team prides itself in its weekly preparation for the games. Tilman is a master of preparing his team when he has 1 week. So on the 2 day turnaround all the prep had been on OSU. The weather was cool to say the least, allowing the Terps to physically be able to attack, attack, and attack.
Goalie Danny Morris was brilliant today stopping 2 shots to stop OSU’s valiant comeback.
The “Bus unloading incident” was more comical then serious. OSU arrived 1st and took forever to unload the bus, as the Terps waited and waited and waited. The Coaching staff had to be upset. But –it was NO Factor
I said in the pregame show that the first 5 minutes would be ferocious. I was wrong –the entire game was ferocious. AHHHH Big Ten Lacrosse. The best in the land.
Did I forget to mention the ultimate, @ Nattys in 2 days as the Terps Really rule Lacosse –Men’s and Women’s.
It’s official –no presence of the All Carolina Conference at Foxboro
Conor Kelly wound up with 47 goals the most ever by a Terps middie including the legendary Frank Urso.
What a super time I had with the parents and alums in the hotel and airport—4 hour delay.
There was more security for a sporting then I have ever seen.
What an eloquent and gracious post game presser from Tils. One win and he is now a genius–just an unbelievable Coach and character builder of men.
Rambo and Heacock –easily the best 1-2 punch ever to wear the Maryland uni.
I didn’t want the day to end but it did.
The guys were on a mission day.
