#13 Terps Squash the Badgers 71-44

Using balanced scoring, the No. 13 Maryland women’s basketball team (15-2, 4-0 Big Ten) breezed past Wisconsin (7-10, 0-4), 71-44, Sunday afternoon for the Terrapins’ 13th straight win.

Junior Eleanna Christinaki led the game with 14 points while senior Ieshia Small added 13. Senior Kristen Confroy (12) and sophomore Kaila Charles (10) also finished in double-digit scoring.

Maryland’s defense was also effective against the Badgers, holding Wisconsin to single-digit points in two quarters and 30.9 percent field goal shooting in the game.

The Terps held Wisconsin scoreless for nearly six minutes to take a 15-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Maryland finished the second on a 14-0 run to take a 37-18 halftime lead.

A 23-2 run helped put the Terrapins ahead 54-27 at the end of the third, allowing just nine Badger points in the quarter.

Confroy led the Terrapins with seven boards while six Terps picked up at least six rebounds. Maryland held a 42-25 advantage in rebounding.

With six points, Brianna Fraser reached the 500-point mark and now has 505 in her career.

The Terps are 6-0 vs. the Badgers. Since joining the Big Ten in 2014-15, the Terrapins are 62-3 (.954) vs. their conference opponents, including their nine wins in the Big Ten Tournament.

Maryland is ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and in the USA Today Coaches poll.
