5 Former Terps Named to USA National Team—Phipps Not Selected Despite Great Final Tryout game

Five former Maryland men’s lacrosse players have been selected to the United States Men’s Lacrosse National Team in advance of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men’s World Championship July 12-21 in Netanya, Israel.

Maryland’s five selections were the most among any school, with the next closest college having three selections. Team USA was whittled down to a 23-man roster Sunday morning.

Representing the Terps in Israel will be current Maryland assistant coach Jesse Bernhardt, in addition to Jake Bernhardt, Michael Ehrhardt, John Haus and Drew Snider.

Jesse Bernhardt will be making his second appearance in the FIL World Championships after helping lead Team USA to a silver medal in 2014. This marks the first World Championships appearance for Jake Bernhardt, Ehrhardt, Haus and Snider.

The team will have a final training weekend in late June before heading to Israel in early July for the world championship.

NOTE: Brian Phipps had and incredible final tryout game but was snubbed by Coach Danowski.
