DJ Durkin took to the stage at Big Ten Football Media Day to discuss expectations for the upcoming year. This season will be of particular importance as it has been called “make or break” for the Durkin staff. The press conference started with Coach Durkin again addressing the passing of Jordan McNair. Durkin announced that “we have assigned a player committee that will make sure we play for Jordan” Durkin also said there will be a decision on how the team honors McNair in the coming days.
Durkin than moved on to the upcoming year in which he sounded very optimistic, saying: “We have a good mix of veteran and young talent.” This year the Terps will return many starters, and will have one of the highest rated recruiting classes in school history on display this year. Durkin then addressed the upcoming quarterback battle which gives him “déjà vu” of the past two seasons, he mentioned that he will make the decision “when the times is right”. The final question was about how DJ views the Big Ten east and he didn’t hold back. Watch the whole press conference below.
