YoungTerps: Maryland set to renew border rivalry vs. Virginia on Friday

Maryland welcomes Virginia for the first matchup between the two teams since 2013.

“Having been a part of some of those games, they’re important games for us,” head coach Mike Locksley said on Tuesday. “And if you look at the type of scheduling we’ve tried to do, this game is in great alignment with how I like to see our schedule. Obviously being in the Big Ten is a tough enough conference, but we do have some historical rivals that are always great for our fans to have the opportunity to compete against and Virginia is one of them and I know our fans are pretty passionate about that rivalry.”

After rallying for a 38-20 win over Charlotte last weekend, Maryland is bouncing back from a short week where they will look to hand Virginia its first 0-3 start since 2016 as head coach Tony Elliott looks to right the ship.

After a slow start doomed Maryland, can the Terps right the ship and capitalize on Virginia early? Where can Maryland capitalize on Virginia? And after Anthony Colandrea stepped in for former Monmouth transfer Tony Muskett, who will start at quarterback against Maryland on Friday? While Virginia sits at the bottom of the ACC in multiple offensive and defensive categories heading into week three, we break down a pair of skill players to watch and how they can give Maryland its first test of the season.

Shifting gears to Maryland, we take a look at what Maryland’s offensive line could look like and where the areas the Terps can outmatch Virginia. We break down the latest after attending the open portion of Tuesday’s practice as offensive lineman Gottlieb Ayedze looks to make his season debut.

We close out the show by taking a look at prop bets heading into Friday night, with sixth-year wide receiver Jeshaun Jones the betting favorite to lead the team in receiving yards, but is there another prop bet with better value?
