Sophomore defender Tim Muller has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after helping the No. 3 Maryland men’s lacrosse team (11-1, 3-0 B1G) to a pair of victories this week over No. 19 Loyola and Rutgers.
A Maryland player has captured Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors eight out of nine weeks this season.
It was, by no means, their best effort of the season. The first half was particularly lackluster but the Maryland men’s lacrosse team pulled things together with an emphatic five goal run to escape Rutgers with their second straight one goal win this time a 9-8 decision improving their record to 11-1 for the season and 3-0 in Big Ten play.

The Greyhounds came ready to play tonight and punched out an early 2-0 Lead The #3 Terps came storming back and late in the 3rd quarter led 10-7
Loyola refused to disappear and tied up the game at 10. Then Joe LoCasio foundBriab Cole in front of the cage for the game winner. Kyle Bernlohr proceeded to make 2 late saves to preserve the victory.

Time to exhale. Maryland and Michigan have christened Big Ten Lacrosse. BTN was on hand as was the largest crowd of the season. Maryland’s play was a bit sloppy but in the end, the Terps had the better collection of athletes and more skilled lacrosse players. The Terps claimed their seventh consecutive win with a 13-4 thrashing of the Michigan Wolverines in Byrd Stadium Saturday. Here’s a close look at the game.
