Some comments on a very disappointing Terrapin loss at Homewood:

Yes it was Groiundhog again for the Terps. A carbon copy repeat of last year’s loss to Hopkins at College Park.

I am concerned about the offense’s sudden inabilty to score 6 on 6.

Charlie Raffa utterly dominated Drew Kennedy 15-6 causing Pietramala to switch gears and use Michael Pellegrino at the X.

When Jesse Schwartzmann was on Terp Talk Wednesday , he commented that Hopkins was working on groundballs … Read More »

Junior Jay Carlson paced the Terrapins with four goals and an assist to lead the No. 4 University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 19-6 win over Robert Morris Wednesday evening at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.

Maryland (9-1, 3-1 ACC) jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first period and never looked back.

Junior Joe LoCascio jump started the Terps with the opening two goals of the game just 22 seconds apart. His first goal came at 9:27 … Read More »

Robert Morris is 4-5 on the season following its 9-7 home loss to Sacred Heart on Saturday, March 29. Sophomore midfielder James Rahe leads the RMU offense with 18 goals and is second on the team with 25 points. Sophomore attackman Luke Laszkiewicz leads the Colonials with 27 points on 16 goals and a team-best 11 assists. Senior Brian Bohn has started all nine games in net for the Colonials and has a 9.87 goals-against average and is saving 50.3 … Read More »

Thirteen turnovers in the first half. The Terps seemed a step slow and not emotionally charged. Some outside shots kept them in the game — from Henry West in particular. But a characteristic of a champion is finding a way to win an important ball game when you’re not clicking at full speed. Maryland did that. Whether it was subtle adjustments or a gut check delivered from a team leader, this halftime can be used as a turning point or … Read More »

To me this was a huge win for the Terps.  After the loss to Carolina last week, there had to be concern with the lack of offensive production in a game where Maryland dominated the X yet could not score enough. Thus the move of Connor Cannizzaro to attack and Cornell transfer Henry West to a added minutes. Henry West came through with 5 points (3G and 2 assists) and Cannizzaro chipped in a goal and 2 assists leading Maryland … Read More »

John Tillman and Ryan Moran will have an embarrassment of riches on the offensive end in two years from a depth standpoint. I wasn’t overly impressed with these future Terps as a whole until after the summer, where many stood out at both individual showcases and club tournaments, but now it’s looking like a very solid class. The first domino to fall here, Curtis Zappala (No. 16 – Episcopal Academy, Pa.) is one of the more crafty scorers in … Read More »
