Marshal Yanda, G, fifth Pro Bowl selection: He’s the best guard in the NFL and possibly the top offensive lineman. Yanda is the highest-graded offensive lineman by Pro Football Focus for the second straight season. He has built a reputation for being a mauling run-blocker and a stellar pass protector. It’s the fifth straight Pro Bowl for Yanda, which is a significant accomplishment. Only two offensive linemen (Cleveland’s Joe Thomas and New Orleans’ Jahri Evans) have longer … Read More »
If you listened Sunday morning to In the Nest, there was a caller who laid some of the blame on the Ravens downfall this year to Joe Flacco. It’s one time my panel agreed that it was preposterous.
I closed the issue by saying that Joe was a Man of Steel, never missing a game in his career in the NFL. Much to my dismay, Kryptonite nailed Joe today as he injured his ACL. Yet he stayed in for 3 … Read More »
Bottom line is —9 Penalties for 107 yards and 4 turnovers will rarely lead to victory
No purpose in going over the accumulation of oddities in the final minute leading to defeat but here’s my take on what I believe was the mistake. There was more concern about trying to run down the clock then trying to make a 1st down. Conventional wisdom has to be thrown out for the Ravens because of the inability to stop a team in the … Read More »
The nightmare continues.
Once again Joe was forced to look for Crockett Gilmore on an alley oop to save the game—why? Steve Smith was double teamed, and there is little confidence in anyone else.
No excuses but everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The refs clearly blew the call on the tackle eligible play. John Urschel reported –I saw it on tape.Chris Johnson’s delayed run was absurd. Ross’ fumble on the punt killed the game. The Ravens were … Read More »
In the Nest has been preempted by NFL football today – here is our mini show for this Sunday
Some random comments as the Ravens fall to 1-5.
Torrey Smith (3 catches for 96 yards) and Anquan (5 catches for 102 yards)had to have been waiting for this game. Both players never wanted to leave the Ravens and both put the victory in 49er hands.
Steve Smith Sr dropped 2 TD passes but it’s hard to blame anything on him as I am not sure he should even be playing with the injuries he has. He finished with 7 … Read More »
It’s fair to say the AFC North was the NFL’s best division in 2014. The North was the only division to send three of its four teams to the playoffs, which was just the sixth time that’s occurred under the current divisional format, which started in 2002. It went 26-13-1 in games outside the division, a .663 mark that was not just the best in the league, but the third-best from any season over that 13-year span.Read More »
From Jamison Hensley of espn.com
– The largest and fiercest competition on the Baltimore Ravens’ roster is at wide receiver. The Ravens are carrying 12 wide receivers right now, and only half are expected to make it when rosters are cut down to 53 players Sept. 5.
It’s a battle among some of the youngest players on the team. Outside of Steve Smith, none of the other receivers are older than 26.
Kamar Aiken, who caught three touchdowns last … Read More »
