On the strength of a solid spring, Maryland ranks 10th in the current Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings which were released Thursday.  The Terps have 807.50 points. Stanford leads the way with 1387.50 and Ohio State is second (1122.30). The ACC has set the pace so far this season with four schools in the top 10. Virginia is ninth with 828.50 points.

Princeton coach Chris Bates confirmed Wednesday morning that midfielder Mike Chanenchuk, the Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2010, has been granted permission to transfer. Inside Lacrosse reported last week that Chanenchuk, who has three years of eligibility remaining, was seeking to enroll at Maryland and join the Terps for the 2012 season. I am greatly relieved. The internet has a way of blowing rumors out of proportion. (see Sean Miller). Coach Tillman is tireless worker who is already out on the recruiting trail daily. It should be noted that by earning a berth in the final four another year has been added to his contract so there are 7 years left.
